On 17 October 2011 the first conference on Climate Change and Development for Africa (CCDA-1) kicked off at the UN Conference Center with the theme “Development First: Addressing Climate Change in Africa.
It was organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA’s) African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC), a joint initiative of the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank and UNECA, within the framework of Climate Information for Development in Africa (ClimDev-Africa) programme.
CGIAR-affiliated staff attending included James Kinyangi and John Recha from the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security, Simon Langan and Matthew McCartney from the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and Tilahun Amede from ILRI.
A CGIAR exhibition booth was organized by CCAFS, ILRI and IWMI. The exhibition was visited by more than 100 participants from different government, donor agencies and private sectors. Many visitors had a chance to interact with the exhibitors and were able to collect publications and fliers.
